No blue laid down yet, but the coves have been painted and today the inside of the trunk, convertible top cover, and dash will be sprayed the same Shoreline beige. The black has been sprayed on the floor, firewall, and inner fenders too.

The car should be back at the house with the paint finished in the next couple weeks... but unless this snow melts there's going to be no place to put it

He plans to drive both, for a while anyways. Last year he used the 56 as pretty well a DD as long as the weather looked OK. My mom might use the 57... I'm not sure. All I know is that unless he can butter up the insurance people I'm S.O.L til I'm 25 :(

Not a good car for your mom to learn standard on... I think she'll need to go to the gym for about a year to handle the clutch, non power brakes and non power steering LOL

Honda Civic will be her tutor. She's alreay buggin me to learn... He offered to put a powerglide in it for her, but she wanted to learn stick.
From driving it a handful of time it's not the clutch travel that's the problem it's the way the car carbons up so quickly in traffic (should you get caught in it).

There is no reason why the car should carbon up in traffic. The car isn't tuned right if it does. The biggest thing on those old engines is people don't check and clean and adjust the points enough which throws your timing off. Specially when these cars sit alot like over the winter the points need to be checked and adjusted. If timing and dwell are okay then the carbs need adjusting as this car shouldn't carbon up.
Anyway can't wait to see the 57 done...

I figured soemone would mention soemthing about that.
Both cars are using a Pertronix module so no more points. It doesn't carbon up badly, but enough that in stop and go with long idles it needs a shot before clearing up. Guess there could be an adjustment.. i dunno.

What your father used a part that is not original!!! I think he should Hot Rod it now seeing it is already modified. :D
Actually one thing it could be if everything checks out with the timing and carb is the spark plugs aren't right. Basically the spark plug is too cold and he should use a hotter spark plug. The reason it only shows up when it idles is because that is when you have the least amount of timing and when timing increases combustion temperatures increase of course too. Which in turns burns the gas properly.
I have seen this quite a few times with these small block chevy engines. Anyway this is just a thing to keep in mind that might fix that problem...
Looking good Andre, I'll for sure come down and check it out this spring :D

Very nice ineed. I love the nostalgic colour choices he's gone with. Not my personal choices, but it works so well on old 'Vettes like that.

Tell me about it.
Neither him nor I would have picked that as the first choice in colour, but alas the boss (mom) insisted.

Hehe, I had a feeling that may have been the colour choice, having already seen his excellent taste with the first Vette.
