Sup.

I have my SI tranny i'm trying to break in half, I have every visible bolt taken off of it but cant seem to break it apart. My goal it to replace a few of my sincro's & raplece all my gaskets. It splits open about 1 inch but stop right there. Any ideas >?
thx.

If you're trying to take the tranny apart then you need to remove the big plug on the back of the tranny and undo the clip that holds the back of the main shaft. I've taken a few apart but never really put one back together in working form :)

you need to remove the 1/2 square plug on the housing, there is a c-clip you need to spread while prying the case apart, and to reinstall again spread the clip and slip the cover on , get , i have done a ton of those trannies,

Bust all the bolts loose. On the right side of the case , remove the 3 12mm detent ball holders. what year tranny is it ? you will see a plug about 1" big with a 3/8" drive socket hole take this out.

Take a pair of needle nose pliers and spread the snap ring apart and while ur doing that have a budy try to lift the case up. Just wiggle it back and forth .

pm me if u need pics

Another note. if the tranny is grinding and popping out of gear. First check the main shaft bearings. they go and the shaft has too much in and out play and forces the tranny to grind. If you are planing on just changeing the syncros. Dont bother your getting urself into a money pit. Syncros go and most times the engagment keys on the gear are rounded off so you will need a new gear. Also the syncro hubs round off too. Whats the tranny do ?
