In the last several cars I have owned , I have always installed an amp and sub.
My beef is with the head unit, it seems like you have to choose one of two options: A: Front&Rear speakers, B: Front&Sub. The B setting is the only one that lets me control the sub level from the head unit.
Am I over looking something ? - is it too much to get 4 speakers and an amp powering a sub?
ON a side note , I have a CB radio that i want to hook up , no instructions tho. so I have one red and one orange wire, a fuse in each 1A-250v and 2A-250v . Im assuming that one is +12 and the other is ignition. Im also guessing that the wire with the 1Amp fuse is the +12.
Does this sound right ?
Thanks

What kind of head units do you buy? I always like to give them a try in the store (or at least read a manual) and most ones I find have your regular four speaker controls PLUS a sub control (find one with a separate sub out...very important).
For example mine is a Pioneer deh6700mp...has the 4 speaker controls (fade and balance) and a high pass filter... then it has separate controls for the sub (low pass filter, sub level.. on/off). It's exactly what I like to have when dealing with a sub.... so I think you just need to look into what brand of head unit you're buying and you'll find what you want.
As for the CB..usually the wire with the fuse on it is positive, but your description is a bit peculiar so dont quote me on that I'm not 100 % sure for your situation.

cheers, you are right. the sub control is key, also I will look into different head units.
As for the CB - there are three wires, red, orange, and black.
This is me guessing what they are for :
Red - ignition power
Orange - +12V Battery power
Black - ground
The red and the orange lines each have a fuse
Red is 2A-250V
Orange is 1A-250V
All I wanted to do is confirm that red is the ignition - it being 2 Amps as opposed to 1 Amp. I don't even know if the amperage is an indication.

Ahh ok well I wouldn't be too scared..try out the red first. I originally thought you were saying that there was only a red and an orange wire which is what threw me off....
The Orange one may be an illumination wire - it gets power when you turn on your headlights. Perhaps the CB has some sort of illumination?? Just a random guess.

I hooked it up the way I thought , it works , and I bought the 27 million % mark up fuses , 3 for 3.99.
Now all I need is a couple of friend to buy them , cell phones- overrated - with the brain tumors and all.
I really know nothing about CB radios.
Thanks for the help

All 3 pre-out decks should have seperate sub/speaker control. Ive found that most decks with 1 or 2 pre-outs only have F/R, F/S controls.
