painting rims???

Has anyone out there painted their alloy rims.. Was wondering what the process was in terms of sanding etc. and what brand of paints are recommended. I've seen wheels repaints that looked really fresh, and then some that looked like a graffiti piece gone bad. Looking for anyone's experience and input...
