Just wondering how hard it is to swap a auto accord to a 5 speed if you have a whole parts car ?? :?:

Harder than it's worth.

if your not doing a h22 swap dont bother.
if you are doing a h22 swap just get the auto tranny and tranny ecu. the jdm h22a auto pull really nice on the highway
when you floor it you hit overdrive then vtec raght after.

It's not hard, just time consuming. If you're not doing it yourself that translates to a lot of money. I frequently tell people in this situation that unless they've got a lot of money in the bodywork it's easier to sell that car and find a manual one.

Guys, why would it be so hard to do this - I think I must be missing something. There's:

- hanging the clutch pedal, which is probably either a bolt on or a simple weld

- running the clutch cable, I suppose if it's a hydro clutch there's some lines to bend and flares to make

- ECU/harness issues, but if he has both from the manual car?

What am I missing? It sounds pretty straight forward to me.

You missed pulling the auto shifter mechanism and replacing the shifter, boot, trim & two shift cables.

Still more trouble than it's worth. Minimum 6-8hrs work + re&re the trans. It'll all be rusted, a PITA job.

Let me guess, a 90-93 car? Don't waste your time.

In most Accords you need:

modify the transmission mount or replace it
remove transmission, axles, pedals, shift linkage, under car exhaust sheild, automatic cluster
install clutch pedal and brake pedal
install clutch cylinder and lines
install shift linkage, under car exhaust sheild, manual cluster
install flywheel & clutch
install transmission (might need a manual starter)
install midshaft & manual axles
do some wiring for the reverse light, ignition key release, etc...

So unless you have a really clean Accord (no rust) or a model that isn't available as a manual, better off selling it and getting a manual one.

Oh right, yeah there's that too. But I mean with that in mind, and what b17 posted - if you have access to a welder, and the car is fairly clean, this doesn't sound like a big deal to me. Whever someone asks about it the first thing you get is a flood of "oh god no"'s and "dont' do it"'s, but if you take your time, why not? Back in the day, car guys worked on their cars - that's what it's about, right?

Two hours to do the whole automatic to manual conversion? How many people in your pit crew? I guess the air compressor was steaming when that was completed.

Where's the BS flag again?

?? u the bs how long does it take you to change a tranny ? 2hours tops.. i did it in 1.. 2 people we did this in 2 hours and a half maybe.

fuckin 2 wire to start the car and 2 wires to have reverse lights... whats so god damn hard..

( 15 mins to weld tranny mount..)

2 mins to drill 2 holes for the shift linkage..

come on.. even the pedal.. took maybe 20 mins.. 3 bolts for the pedal.. the auto pedal for the brake is not even in the way. but i cut it and put nice rice pedals anyways.. this doesnt take all day to do..

Thanks for clearing that up dipshit. Mocking someone that states 6-8 hours when you where not alone and sounds like you cut a few corners instead of doing it cleanly.

And lay off the brake cleaner, it's killing your good brain cells. (Estie de dependant d'aide social.)
