so my friends neon wont start so he gave it to me.
it cranks has spark but no fuel. and ive narrowed it down to the fuel filter and pressure regulator. has anyone done one? i just wanna know if i gotta drop the tank to get at it. if not ill do it in his driveway and drive it to my work. if i do have to drop the tank i gotta get the peice of shit towed to my work.
also is there anyone on here that would be able to get me the section of the service manual for a head gasket

I still have the service manual for my 99. As well as the Chilton.
For the fuel pump, I think you have to drop the tank. Check under the seat for an access panel but I don't think so...

You don't need to drop the tank to see if the fuel pump is working, listen for it to whine with the key on but not cranking... you can also pop off the fuel line after the filter/before the rail to see if its pumping (put the line in a jug, make sure it can't pop out from pressure and turn the key on)
you can also buy a cheapie fuel pressure gauge from princess auto (safest way to know, plus it can tell you if the pressure regulator is gone)
If you do have pressure, check via test light to see if the injectors are firing

As the last guy said, listen for the pump to turn on. if you do not hear the pump check for power and a ground at the fuel pump. Before you go and put a pump in you want to make sure that you have the power and a ground. You can also check the fuel pump fuse. One thing that we do at work sometimes is take a rubber mallet and hit the bottom of the fuel tank near the center and sometimes that allows the pump to restart.
Is your gas tank a plastic one or metal?
