When I got back from holidays my business line was not working. Line is dead and it says it's disconnected. I finally got through to them today and they are saying that I called them to have it disconnected over Christmas. Pretty hard since I was in BC. Now they want a week to reconnect plus $200. It seems that I have no choice, pay the $200 hookup charge or lose my old number.

Also, if anyone knows of a company other than Bell who can give business phone service in Quebec, please let me know!

use fucking Vonage ffs; TONNES of business are doing it, you get every function you could imagine, unlimited LD to NA and it's $45 a month.
Yes it's reliable.

I used Vonnage successfully for a couple years in QC. Only downside is that they'll give you a new number, or you have to wait about a week to port the old one (assuming you can port it).
