Unfortunately I haven't had any time to visit M&M this year. I always wanted to approach the owner of that timmies and discuss things a little more formally. Someone needs to represent the enthusiasts and talk about concerns that they have. On one side they do make considerable amounts of money from the coffee and food purchases but on the other it looks like a garbage dump when people leave. Maybe if an issue like lack of garbage cans were brought up a middle ground could be reached.

As for those causing problems nobody - myself included wants to babysit people telling them what they can and can't do but if nobody says anything then nobody has a right to complain when everyone is kicked out.

A) They don't need a warrant to make you pop your hood, it's called Reasonable and Probable Grounds.

Flat out, and completely agreed with RALLIART2005 on this point, having more than a few friends on various regional and municipal police forces (hell, one of my own officers now works for Ottawa Police) and being in law enforecement myself, if you attract attention to yourself, you will get attention from the boys in blue. I've been in this hobby for more than a few years, and I have yet to be "harassed" by an officer.

Allow me to explain the failure in your theory...

the cop asks you to pop the hood. You say no or pull out some high school law crap. Police officer logically deduces "ok, since he is so afraid to pop the hood he is obviously hiding something." BAM! you failed and he has his suspicion/probable cause to force you to open the hood...

If it were your right to not permit a search that the officer needs your permission then not consenting cannot be used as reasonable grounds. It's like cops show up at your door and say "can we come in" if you say no then they can't go get a warrant because of that!

This is true, I was pointing out that they do not NEED a warrant to ask you to pop your hood, they just need RPG to suspect that something is there. As for you refusing to open it for whatever reason, that now falls into obstruction or failure to comply, depending on which one you go with.

This is why I enjoy customs.

Officer - Can you open your hood/trunk please.
Driver - No [insert bs reason here], it can't open
Officer - Ok, we'll open it for you then [to second officer], get the drill.
Driver - You can't do that.

The cop wouldnt stop harassing, trying to work his trickery on us.After 20 minutes of yelling,we showed him some empty beg that i found under my seat telling him thats all we had, but he wouldnt give up he kept saying how were fucked regardless, he knows we have more and how hes gonna search our car no matter what.

In the end, I ended up lighting the 2 paper phat back up and laughing at him getting in his car and driving away.

A search warrant is for the purpose of gathering evidence in an investigation. Doesn't apply in the case of a engine bay.

A search warrant is for the purpose of gathering evidence in an investigation. Doesn't apply in the case of a engine bay.

When i was 16, I got pulled over in my parents dodge caravan. They saw cases of Gravol medicine in the back that my mother was bringing to her work the next day (at the time, she was a nusre for a clinic in Casselman and rockland, so she was always driving samples back and forth), They searched my whole van, asked why I had so many 'drugs' on me....had to call my parents...they took out the seats...everything. Then left.

And yes, i was sitting there saying you cant do that, this isnt right, etc...they pretty much laughed at me.

despite what the commercials try to tell you, smoking a joint and driving is no different than having a drink or 2. if you know your limit then you're fine.

You would be quite surprised on cops outake on marijuana(for the most part,not all are the same clearly). They know they have better things to do then run around trying to catch teenagers/ppl smoking little joints. And even if they happen to pull you over and you had ajoint going around, how are they gonna prove that you are stoned in the first place?oOOoo my eyes are red, i got allergies and my eyes are killing me fuck off(you get my point). There is a reason we need lawyers. When I studied law they were still trying to decide if a person's car could be considered their dwelling. In that case the police would need a warrant. There are however a few legal loopholes. For example if they have grounds to believe you have a radar detector - for example a clip for one in plain sight then they could be allowed to search. If they discover drugs during that search then they are admissible.

The warrant thing was always necessary when they were worried about something being solid in court. Every time I was contacted by them about a webmail account being suspected of trading child porn I would verify that the account existed and that it had at least some email in it before they went through the trouble of having a warrant drawn up. In some limited cases I found accounts that were receiving huge amounts of data and through an administrative reason had to check them out. If something like KP was found I could complain and submit the account info to them and it was totally admissible. 2 similar things but vastly different because of the circumstances. That's how a lot of our legal system works and you practically need to be a lawyer to know exactly what your rights are.
