can anyone tell me where the speedo is hooked or what it looks like mine went from bouncing to flat and i'm clueless

depends on the transmission

either it's a squarish connector on a box, VSS
or it's a thick black cable

check your transmission

Your vss is your running a b16a is located on the tranny. Go to your motor, ok down to the trnny on left hand side nd you cant miss it. Black and has a plug that goes into it, Common for water to get in over years and eat away at the connectors, You can unclip it and clean them with elec spray and a small scrape will do well. Of just go and buy a new vss.

It's fairly simple to diagnose. Go for a drive use the engine to slow down. If the ECU sees the throttle up for (I think it's 4 seconds) and the engine RPM above 2500 it will turn on the CEL. If from driving around you're not getting a CEL then it's most likely the actual speedo in the cluster. I just changed one tonight and it fixed his speedo problem... fairly common problem.

Yes also with all cases of broken vss, The rpm's still worked fine and it was only the speedo that quit on me.
