its this lil guy who owns it. I remember him telling us at the subaru meet that it was the craziest thing ever, that no one wanted to swap it cause it'd be so fast it kill people & all this BS. He thought he was the only one with a swap or something.
Thats when we all lifted our hoods and showed him how many swapped cars are in the club - put him in his place. and alot of the cars were alot more modded than his.
BTW its a Version 2 STI front clip swap IIRC. thats from a 95 in japan IIRC.
its burgundy - kinda like mine - also a 4 door

I'm outta the loop on this one...I guess there's a little hatred for this guy? He's a bit of a douchebag possibly?
Not sure what stories are out there...just saw it, and thought it looked good. And yes...I suppose it is more maroon/dark red...whatever...it's a shade of red. No need for the "idiot" comment...but thanks anyways.

More importantly is it actually fast.
im sure it is if its an sti powertrain, but as you know Tom, there are alot of faster cars in the club - even NA cars and plain WRX with some mods.
i doubt the driver is fast, maybe the car is. when he talked about it it was annoying because he made it out to be something noones ever seen before
I've seen that car on the 416, the hood scoop was flapping away pretty bad. :o

Ya he really said that, a few times actually. Kinda came off cocky at first but I figured he just wanted to talk. No harm in that.

if I recall... he was telling us at the meet that the shell was a EDM 2.5rs sedan and that 4 door 2.5rs in that year were only available in europe... he was all 'jdm this' and 'jdm that' 'check out my header' 'check out my jdm headlight fluid tank'
We inspected his VIN plates and tried to find out of it was an entire JDM V2 sti front clip and if it was from the EDM or not. Turns out we found the round transport canada inspection sticker on it (comes stock with CDM cars) in the door and matching vins, so all he got was the guts of a RHD car to swap in and a 13-14 year old drivetrain from japan.
I guess he was trying really hard to fit in, but all our guys are down to earth and aren't all into that JDM thing. Personally I wasn't impressed, with the car or what he had to say about it. Lots of faster cars in our club, and we don't need to gab about 'rare' parts either or talk our our asses.

hey boys, so heres the deal... the douche bag who owns the car is Mike Saper... some little rich jewish kid that has had nothing to spend his money on ever in his entire life... worked hard his entire life... he is really annoying lol... anyways getting back on track the story is he bought the 2.5 from a buddy of mine, ( all of my friends have driven the car when it was just a 2.5, took a serious beating ) bought it about a year ago... within a month of him having the car, he burned the motor and the tranny grinded bla bla bla... he had no idea how to drive basically, and all the help from all my friends beating it really added to it. anyways, he takes the car to john bennett at Initial tuning on Enterprise ave. of merivale, walks in and says i have 30 grand to drop on this thing, john make it serious... everything from being right hand drive to the paint and the rims on the car was all johns choice... mike had no say, just financed it all... he is a REAL douchebag... has no idea what he is talking about so if you see him, when he gets into one of his rants that he usually does, just let it in one ear and out the other and remind him that he might wanna take johns dick outa his mouth... if you want a solid car that has alot of potential to pump up the power you can buy it from him for 25 grand!!!

Potential to blow trannies?
The part the makes all the subaru guys snicker is that he completely wasted his time swapping the entire clip. The RHD and LHD firewalls are exactly the same. So are the frame rails, so is everything. The only difference is that they cut holes for the harness and steering wheel and the interior pieces are different. All of the blanks for the holes are even there. A little cutting and you wouldn't have to change anything structural.

As far as I know, they didn't change the firewall. As you said they used what ever taht was on the car.

My comments are based on what the owner of the car told me. He said they cut the car at the firewall and replaced it all with a RHD front clip.

well maybe he'll explain the identical serial numbers from the fender stamp to the door frame... yes there were parts from a v2 STI front clip on it, not the whole clip.
If this car went up for sale, I wouldn't touch it. A 13 year old engine... a year to do the wiring (according to him, as being 'the first sti swap into an rs') I would not touch this car with a 10 foot pole.
There are more reliable and cheaper and NEWER lower mileage STI or WRX swaps out there on the market, some WRX swaps can be had for 6-7k.
Fact is, this guy put down big bucks for an old swap and he was trying to play it up all pimp and F&F-like to try and impress a bunch of people.
what does IIRC mean?

yup.... subaru swaps aren't cheap but they've come down a lot..... for a sti version2 engine.... it's ancient...
I remember at tall pines rally when I had my first ride in 99rs with version 3 swap back in 2000.... by one of the subaru canada rally team mechanics (his own car).... so 7 years later... nobody uses these engines....
Now a JDM STI swap.... are mainly Version 7 or 8, etc... or that's what's available...
If you're in the subaru commnunity, you'd know there's 3 guys in Ottawa that's done enough subaru swaps ... the biggest thing in the swap is the wiring.... not the mechanical part....
there's also a few suppliers for engines in Montreal / Toront that are subaru specific.... and Version 7 engine is about $4500 and 6spd tranmission is about $3500 if it has the DCCD and rear diff/axles.

was chattin with him last night at the meet - he was still trying to talk up the car & saying he can get all these crazy parts, etc..
so i asked him what brakes he had, what gear ratio, what suspension, etc.. didnt even know any answers.
i hate to bash - but its a pet peave of mine lying about the stupidest details trying to make your cock look bigger or something?? especially trying to tell subaru mechanics and such what he *thinks* is so special
lying at all for the matter is silly

i dont think saper is lying or trying to act all huge man..i just think he has no idea what his car has in it ..but w.e its a sweet car...oh and he did dump 30gs at initial..i was talkin to john last night at the shop.

yeha the only thing is that saper spent cash on stupid shit that he coulda dumped the other money somewhere else.... like for example, hes got hte stock intercooler in itand it barely fits under the hood scoop... its on an angle and isnt sucking the potential that it has.... he spent 2 grand per seat on the momo seats he has in it, i woulda def taken that cash and gotten a front mount... there were just a bunch of little things that cost tooo much money for what it was ..... lights that he got... fog lighnt covers, the paint... lol he painted the roof flat black so htat when he got a carbon hood and trunk it would look sick, only thing is he is sooo bgroke now, the car will never get a new hood or trunk.... anyways he rushed into all of this,i watched the whole process go down, reason why it took a year for the wiring is because they couldnt find the proper diagram anywhere.... ended up in the end that john had to get a japanese diagram translated to english so that the wiring would match the interior... lol you dont even know how many times they wired it up and like onew of the door locks wouldnt work, or something was loosing power... all in all for hte same deal, minus all of the cosmetics he did to the car, you could have everything he does mechanical for under 10 grand!!!

I honestly don't think it's that sweet... and isn't it illegal to put in an engine into a car that's older than the chassis that it's going in? ver2 STI is from what... 95 or 96... his car has to be newer than that.
a newer WRX engine would be more reliable than his "unique one off" JDM V2 swap. Hell, it'll probably put out more power too.

Pics?
Question.. Why would anyone throw that much money on an older car to make it an STI when you can buy like-new for that price?
Confused..
