Ok so my car came with an aftermark clifford alarm which should lock/unlock doors on arm/disarm but whoever installed it never hooked up the 2 wires. I did some research on the internet and came up with the following:
I have a 00 Civic and the wiring specs are as follows for the power locks:
Door Trigger Light Green/Red (-) Alarm Connector right of Steering Connector is Green
Door Lock Green/White (-) Above Fuse Panel or Keyless Module or behind Radio Green Connector
Door Unlock Green/Orange (-)
Driver's Lock White/Red Driver's Kick Panel
Driver's Unlock Blue/Red Driver's Kick Panel
Passenger Unlock Yellow/Red Keyless Entry Module
I was told the 2 that I needed were the Door Lock (Green/White) and Door Unlock (Green/Orange).
If that's the case I believe i've found them but when I hook up the 2 wires to the alarm it doesn't work.
After a lil more research I was told I could use a multimeter to test if I indeed had the correct wires. So what I tried (rather quickly cuz it was dark and the bugs outside were biting) was placed the black probe on a piece of metal that should have been a ground and the red on one of the wires and flick the power lock switch both up and down to see if I could get a reading which I did not.... I'll give it another try whens theres more light out tomorow but if i get the same results I'm assuming I must have the wrong wires even though they are the correct colour.
Anyways just wondering if someone has any experience with my specific car or can point me in the right direction. I'm usually good with this sort of stuff and was hoping to do it myself and save the $50 especially since it's only 2 wires...
PS. Can someone please confirm that for my specific car I only need to hook up the 2 wires.... or do I need some sort of relay or anything else? I was told no but can someone confirm?
Thanks in advance!
Danny
