You should be able to rent clubs at the golf club itself. Usually they charge ~20$ for rental. The green fee for a Saturday will likely be in the 40$ range. If you plan to take a power cart, add another 20$ish.

Isn't the course rating like a 74 (from the tips)? It isn't that tough.

I shot a low 90 there last time I played, which is pretty well on par with my usual game.

Courses like Loch March have a rating of 71.6, which I've heard is leaps and bounds tougher than the marshes.

It's a nice course, but I really don't see the appeal of spending $100+ for golf in the Ottawa area.

i played there last week!!! the greens were terrible!

yeah....the greens have a lot of winter kill....but then again, every course i've played this year has awful greens. I heard Casselview has nice greens this year though.

I only became a member there though b/c it was dirt cheap....unrestricted couples membership only costed us $1300

holy crap....good scores man! Best I've ever shot there was an 84 (from the whites). I usually shoot low 90's, high 80's. I've never played from the blues. The front 9 is wide open so its bomb's away. The back 9 has some narrow holes with doglegs in them (10 through 13, and 18) and like you said, you have to put the driver away.

i almost eagled the 600 yard par 5... the dog leg one from the blues i killed a drive and hit a iron 5 feet away from the pin and then missed the putt !!! lol
but the back side is very narrow!!! i'll let you know if i go play there again!!

So it sounds like you guys are pretty good. I usually shoot low 90s/high 80s. Sadly, my drive and my putting are never both on at the same time. If I'm hitting fairways, I'm missing putts and vice versa. If I could get them both working on any given day, I could shoot low 80s pretty easy.

I'd definitely hit up the driving range a bit before playing a round. It will make it less painful!!

As long as you can get the ball going 100-150 yards at a time, you'll have a good time. Find a club you like and use it all the time. It's not about distance in golf.

I had the most frustrating day of golf today.. EVER.

I hit 9GIR... but 47 putts... :banghead: Finished with a 91 @ Greensmere. I hit the par 4 17th (Black) in one! It plays 283 from the white. My driver was on fire. I hit 3 300ish yard drives in the fairway.

The marshal that was following us around was super impressed. Was good for the ego.

On a sidenote, let's do up some small gambling like PDP mentionned just to make it interesting.

An idea: Everyone submits $5 before the round into a 'pot', making a total pot of 20$ per foursome. We then play a skins game for 1$ per hole, plus we'll say the last 2$ is for the player with the lowest score amongst their group. I google'd the definition for those not familiar with skins games:


Definition: Skins are what the skins game is played for. A skins game pits players in a type of match play in which each hole has a set value (usually in money or points). The player who wins the hole is said to win the "skin," and whatever that skin is worth. Skins games are often more dramatic than standard match play because holes are not halved. When players tie on a given hole, the value of that hole is carried over and added to the value of the following hole. The more ties, the greater the value of the skin and the bigger the eventual payoff. For example, a friendly skins game might be played for $1 per hole. If three holes in a row are played without a winner, then the fourth hole is worth $4 ($1 for its own value, plus a dollar for each hole that carries over).

If you're all up for it I'm sure it'd be fun... Plus it's only 5$.
