the guy that owns that car owns all the "pay and park" lots downtown. He gets all his modifications done at Sterling Ford where i used to work and he goes through a set of those tires every 2 weeks, its up to 700whp now, he has a red one aswell, and an 07 Saleen Mustang making 670whp.

nice guy though, must be nice to have that kinda coin!

WTF?
How is it a 500hp mans car like a Shelby Mustang, gains mild interest from you, and yet a slow as balls, fwd, buzzing 90's econobox, with fancy rims, like a civic fit for ones mom or little sister, gives you a raging erection?

Because its quite simple really... HONDA fucken power.

Knowing the fact that there are several buzzing 90's econobox 4bangers laying a beating on some big bad ford(or anyone) v6 and v8's,great on gas, and reliable as shit, gives me a raging hard on all the time.

Now thats what i call engineering.

Regardless tho, i love shelby mustangs and Ford GT's are very sexy fast cars.

Honda "power" is more rare than an ambitous Barrhaven teen. It does exist though, with assistance from the aftermarket. For every 10 random ricemobiles out there ,how many could crack even 14's?

i have no sympathy for ricemobiles really. and you are right in the sense that most dont crack 14's.

im looking at this from a horsepower per litre engineering perspective. The fact that an Integra Type R 1.8Litre will smoke v8's(Not all of them of course) is simply amazing. You gotta hand it to the japs, they are some smart mother fuckers.

Fuck even a 95 civic hatch with a GSR(1.8l 4banger) swap, full exhaust & intake system will hang with v8's. Aftermarket exhaust and intake is necessary as Honda's came with very restrictive airflow from the factory, hiding enough free horsepower that is just waiting to be released.

To me hp/l means jack when it comes time to go. Sure it makes for a conversation from purely an engineering standpoint but that's it. And yes in a light enough car a 180-200hp 4 banger can can hang with some stock "muscle" from the 80's and 90's.

Fuck even my grandma's 95 civic hatch with a GSR(1.8l 4banger) swap, full 9" exhaust & PCV pipe intake system will hang with shitty, underpowered 1986 v8's. Aftermarket exhaust and intake is necessary as Honda's came with very restrictive airflow from the factory, It's even more beneficial on V8's, so my argument sucks.

Good attempt on trying to be funny, But terrible attempt on trying to actually prove your point.

Andre, Explain why 1998 ITR(1.8L I4 195hp/132tq) runs Mid 14's, Then i see a 1998 GT V8 stang(225hp/290ft/lb) running the exact same time.

I know the race tuned(Cobra's,SS's etc) big v8's will smoke any stock 4banger. obviously. But clearly Honda is doing something right.

Im not trying to bash domestics, i love 5.0litre stangs, cobra's,SS's and all that, I just look at Honda being far more technically advanced then domestics, thats all.

Nice.
You pick the Honda "star", and compare it to the slowest stock mustang since '86.
Power to weight. The ITR 4 made the same power at 9k that the 98 4.6 dog made at 4500. A year later that 4.6 was pushing the ~3400 lb mustang to 13.8-14.2. Dollar for dollar mods after that and it is no contest.

Yes, we get the na hp/l thing. But in only means something to people who are generally slow.

Andre

I agree actually, Honda's are very advanced... and the same can be said for Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, etc.. I'm a little biased, but to be honest don't hate on imports, i'm just giving you a hard time.

I guess the obvious answer is that it's a smaller car, and weights less. Also, pushrod 5.0's and SBC's are a very simple design that's easier to work one, requires less parts and generally parts requried are cheaper and more plentyful. So there's a benefit. Also, it's based on personal preference. I would rather rip the tires off my Camaro doing kickass doughnuts, then ripping the tires off an ITR understeering into a pole. :D

Plus, ITR's (per your example) are a little hard to come by, I'd have a much easier (and cheaper) time buying a 5.0 than an ITR.

-mustang GT isnt the slowest stang since 86'. I also dont really consider mid 14's slow for an older stock car for under 25g's. It doesnt really matter which honda i choose, point is its 1.8L with 130ft/lb's.

-I know the ITR gets all its power at 8k, but what difference does that make? ITR's beg the driver to beat it all the way up to 8.5k, it loves the abuse.

Andre your counter-argument was awesome and i Agree with it all except for that last line about ITR's understeering into a pole lol.
ITR's come with very high tuned suspensions. they dont call it the "Best handling FWD car in the world" for nothing.

Andre

Best handling FWD car teehee

I guess I just prefer the handling characteristics of RWD than FWD I guess. I've never driven an ITR so it isn't fair to for me to bash them. I think notch's point was that the 98 Stang isn't exactly the "creme de la creme" of Ford's offerings, whereas the ITR was Honda's race car for the streets, well in North America anyways. Also, a 98 Stang could probably be had for half the proce (if not less) than an ITR.

I aswell prefer the RWD platform. A turbo RWD car at that. Thats why it's sad to say my next car will most likely not be a Honda, unless of course an ITR comes around for a great price, that would be awesome.

Right now im quite amazed with the 300zx TT, and the MR-2 Turbo.
For the price they are going for now, the powertrain, styling, and RWD. They are quite amazing cars.

Why is it on sites like jdmmontreal, these cars sell for so cheap! Under 10k easily.

Andre

I love the turbo MKII MR2's, but I would never, ever buy a RHD car (re: JDM Motreal place) not for me. Also, before I die I'd love to own another AWD DSM.
