I've heard great things, and I 've heard horrible things. Some people will not take their motors anywhere else for machine work other than to Joe Kavanaugh and Lentech.
And then I've seen them put together motors that burn oil right from the get go due to installing rings incorrectly, to having a timing belt jump and shred because the crank pulley was put on backwards and take out all the exhaust valves. I've also heard of them installing the pistons backwards on the rods and took out the motor within a couple months.

I've known and used Joe Kavanaugh for years - since long before he was working with Lentech. They're all reputable people.

My friend worked there. It's literally the bomb shit. They have a guy who got the highest mechanics score in all of ontario, they do dino tuning and the works. Probably the best performance garadge in the area, if not all of ontario.

NOL, please dont type anymore, your credibility doesnt exist just like your spelling skills LOL.
Lenny builds the best AOD out there, period.

What does AOD mean? Before you say it, no I don't have any credibility or spelling skills.

Automatic Overdrive - These trannies were used in alot of V8 powered Ford from 1987 - 1993.
I have had 3 Lentech Trannies in my 1993 Mustang. 11.63 @ 121.00mph
It worked !

News: The machine shop has been closed and Joe Kavanagh is no longer employed by Lentech.
This is what I know since the last time I stopped by. Whether that decision was reversed or whatever I don't know, but I know there was legal discussions.
Joe knows his stuff on the machine work, Chris is very good with both dyno tuning and AODs and Ryan is a very clever mechanic.
All in all it's a good shop, but it certainly has some issues.

Looks like you can spell...
MotleyDrew hit it on the head, Lenny builds most likely the best OD auto Ford tranny for a powerful streetcar or drag car.
As for the dirty laundry....not sure why its being aired or talked about here. Lenny has a great shop & has been very successfull for many years.....and with many employee's. He will get the job done & done well no matter who is employed or not.

If the guy wants to know if it's a good shop, then he's entitled to whatever we, the public, know if we choose to talk about it.
Yeah, my bad on the spelling. You should try writing essays with heavy dyslexia. Normally I have firefox's spell checking on so I don't come across as a retarded 13 year old.
And anyone with a cell in their head knows credibility and the Internet do not mix.
So proudly with no credibility, I suggest going there and checking it out for yourself! Finding a shop is more of a personal matter, so don't take our words for it.

Well my personal experience with the shop after I dealt with them is
[1] They do good work
[2] They are very expensive
Your # 1 & 2 go hand in hand for engine/tranny work I find. You don't want someone building an engine for you that's charging $300 and a case of Bud.

I just talked to Joe, he will be there for at least another 1.5 years, as per contract. One of the nicest guys you can deal with IMO.

What kind of prices are you guys paying for the work done? Port and polish head and block sleeving? Does it vary from part to part depending on current condition?

Just to freshen up my machining lingo, decked : to shave off a bit from the bottom of the head, giving a clean and smooth surface?
If so, how much did they take off?
Thanks man

A head is decked when its not straight...the amount they remove is always at the minimum, just enough to make it straight, and that depends on the head.
