Anyone had a ride on one of these? I'm considering it for a starter bike / commuter. 3500$ for the bike and the gear.
For those who haven't seen it:

Any opinions are welcome.
Nice, it looks like a lot of fun! For just running around town, it's a great idea with gas prices these days. However, can it cruise at highway speeds?

I think if you push it it'll hit 110ish.
IIRC blackfoot has one (or planned too), he may know more about them.

Anyone have any insight on the insurance for one of these things? I was thinking about getting a Ninja 500R for a starter bike, but this thing looks neat...

Cheap as far as bikes go. If you have the course, it's much cheaper. For myself, 25, clean record, 500-600$.

Saw one on the road. Looks funny with a decent size rider on it.

talked to a guy that owned one at the airport, didn't get into numbers but he said its a great bike.. use to own a 600 i believe and got the 125r now. won't have a problem throwing yourself down in corners b/c its about 200lbs lighter i think he said.

yeah i planned on getting one, it woud be a sweet bike if i didnt take the highway to work. 120 at 11,000rpm 6th gear is where she will max out..
the problem about putting this bikes in corners (as i read a review) the tires are too skinny, and there are only two availble tires for this bike currently ont he market, the stock ones, and a set of perellies. the perellies are more tire, then the stokers. and those tires will help you in the corners, but if you come in too hot, you will take it in the chin.
i didnt get it because its not enough bike, and ive yet to sell my 125. lots of interest no buyers. and eveyrone wants a free ride.
but im probobly going to end up with an older 600 for now

fine for putting around in the city...not good if you plan on getting out anywhere. my wife had a ninja 250 and was thinking of getting back into riding this summer so we looked at them. too tiny for a rider with some experience IMHO.

I have a Kawy500, fun to ride, cheap to insure and you won't get bored quickly. I have had it for 3.5 years now.
As for insurance goes, well you should go read the insurance section of http://www.ott-motorcycles.ca/ , it really all depends on the company you go with, your age, lvl of licensing, etc...
