So I was driving today and I realize that my tachometer seems to be fubared. When I accelerate to around 5k rpm, the first 3k rpm move properly and then it like shutters and moves slowly up to 5...when I shift it sticks at 5 for a bit and then drops. What is causing this? It is not reading the rpm's at all...I am just going by sound. It does it sometimes and works fine other times?
let me know your diagnosis...
Thanks,

-Matt

Stock or aftermarket tach?, either the tach is fooked, or the signal wire is grounding maybe?

it is a ricearific eurolite one that makes the numbers neon blue at night and shows white in day...I still think it looks cool at night though. It just started doin this lately...hmmm

the eurolite guages in your car are for a gsr, so your diagnosis is off because 3000 rpm on your tach in not actually 3000rpm

Is this a stand-alone type tach, or are you talking about having reverse-glow guages under a stock tach?

If it's an A/M tach, what would "being a gs-r" have to do with anything?

If it's an oem tach with backlighting, wtf do the eurorice lights have to do with the tach...

Is it jumping irradically and dying etc? Could be a loose connection/burnt wire on your igniter, or your distributor might be on it's way out...

its like a cover for the cluster, you have to take off the plastic and place it over the stock guages

Don't worry I didn't buy them and do it! It was on the car when I bought it!
