So the Z will be on jack stands, and not moving until the SFA and half doors are done. Well maybe just the SFA. Here is the way she sat last weekend.
Add a leaf
torsion bar crank
33x12.5x15 Baja claws

So ill be going SFA with leafs and SOA. |I will also be ditching the NP233 transfer case for the NP231. As well as removing the old motor and putting one with far less km.

So here is the build list:
Front Axle: Dana 30 from an XJ 4.56:1 gears, detroit locker
Rear Axle: Chrysler 8 1/4" from an XJ 4.56:1 gears, detroit locker
front leafs: 1981 Wagoneer stock front leafs
1986 grand wagoneer pitman arm
1993 Astro 2wd van steering box
1989 Blazer NP231 transfer case
1996 S10 manual 4WD shift lever with the S10 console
2000 Blazer 4.3L
Front drive shaft: Unknown <--any ideas feel free to chime in
Stock rear shaft

I think thats it. A local off roader is going to make me all the tabs, and bushing brackets I need. Ill make the shackles as I go.

Planned time to completion: 2 weeks

This is how she sits today:
I was going good today...until I ran out of oxygen.

I know a guy that has some AMC stuff. He scrapped some of the stuff not long ago. Hes still got a 360 V8, and he may still have his Dana axles. I think he also had a 727 torque flight from his Wagoneer. I think it was rebuilt at one time not long ago. If you want, I can lead you to contact him.

Sold my dana's for these. The lockers and gears are worth well more then i paid. Im going chromolly shafts next year. With them they will be as strong as a dana 44. I will also go with trailmaster manual hubs, or CJ inner/outer C's and re-drill the rear axles to the 5x5.5" bolt pattern.
I now have the drivers side read to be torched off. need frigging oxygen....errrr....
and it will be more street legal then it was.

On a better note, rear axle is in!!!

Nice Logan! More updates... I want to see that frame repaired.

Logan
10-03-2010, 06:14 PM
As soon as I get more oxygen, the frame will be repaired. Drill a hole at the end of the cracks. grind a V into the cracks. Weld them. Then plate the frame.

when is the small block going in?

Logan
10-06-2010, 05:07 PM
When I can afford a 6L it will go in. $900 for the wiring harness, $100 for mounts, $450 for 2nd gen 4wd s10 v8 shorty headers, + motor....

lifted truck>lowered car...

Starting that next spring when the truck is done, and I have the time/funds to do it. I expect that to be a 2 year project. just cause I wont have a garage built for 2 years. Roof is next years agenda... then the garage...

build is looking good, think you'll get this thing done before the snow flies? also is the NP 231 swap a direct bolt in to the 4L60? is it the same NP from a jeep? if so, how bout just swapping a D300?

Logan
10-11-2010, 08:39 PM
Different from a jeep apparently. The 1th get s10's ran an np-231 with a flange for a u-joint. 2nd gen s10's run a splined shaft for the front shaft.

But, I got them done...

Now all thats left is, 3" rear shackles, np-231 t-case, Cherokee cardan (cv) for rear drive shaft(cheaper the lengthening drive shaft until I do a slip yoke eliminator), manual 4x4 shift lever, modify y pipe & tranny cross member for front drive shaft, measure & find front drive shaft.
I have im guessing $1700 into it, $1000 on the axles alone. Maybe another $100 in parts to get it all finished.

EvilDeadFan

Looking good! Sucks about the nail. I know it wouldn't help the fractures, however the last time I had my nail looking that bad, the hospital used a soldering iron with a fine tip, heated it to 350 degrees and released the pressure, which also stopped the pain.

Logan
11-10-2010, 07:28 AM
They actually take a needle, and spin it on your nail till the blood runs out. They did 3 holes, but it was clotted to much to get it all out. The doc told me in an emergency case where im not near a hospital, take a paper clip, heat it with a lighted, and it will burn through the nail.

EvilDeadFan
11-10-2010, 08:10 AM
That'd be a good idea. I know it sounds crazy to most, but the release of pressure makes a huge difference in pain. Getting to the hospital, wind blowing on the nail was the worst sensation. 30 seconds after releasing the blood, I was able to press pretty hard on the nail.

Back on topic though, when do you think you'll have the rest of your project completed?

Logan
11-10-2010, 08:24 AM
Well... I can not lift more then 10bs for the next 6 days, and have to stay off my feet... So 8 days...lol. Should finish it next weekend. Im going to do all the the small stuff till my wound heals.
Tomorrow afternoon it goes to my exhaust guy to do the Y pipe, tranny cross member, and finish the duel exhaust.
Today ill do the diff vent hoses and possibly the center console and floor 4x4 shifter assembly.
And while on perks...it should be fun...lol

I had to put a NP231J yoke on my NP231C, so I could bolt on my front drive shaft. Then I had to modify the transmission cross member to clear the drive shaft.

I don't understand why the CM needed to be modified. Is it that the yokes bigger, or the tranny is higher?

Logan
12-23-2010, 06:19 PM
With the IFS the drive shaft is in a fixed position above the cm. Now that I have a SFA with a moving drive shaft, it would not clear the cm. So I had to move the cm above the drive shaft.
Ill try get a pic of it so you can see what i mean.

I see what you did there. Make sure that Crossmember is solid. You're a uni-body basher and extra flex there is definitely your enemy.. keep it in the suspension, haha. I trust you've done a good job on it.

I can't wait to see this thing up close and running at full potential. You almost trail ready?

Logan

Already got it stuck. And if nothing broke in the field I was in the other day bajain it.... It aint gonna break!
PLans for it now
Remove 3-4 front leafs
2" rear lift shackles
35-37" tires
Remove front locker for winter, replace it in the summer
Mile marker manual hubs
superior axle inner front shafts
2WD engine/exhaust swap (have one with 100 000km compared to mine with 310 000km)
8500lbs winch( have, just need to install)
rock slider bars
