I'm trying to add auxiliary port to my stock stereo - accord 00'

I got the idea from this page: http://donn.dyndns.org/projects/carstereoinput/

basically you solder headphone cable to audio processor of stereo

i opened the top of the stereo and here's what it looks like:
http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/9562/img0356hrb.jpg
hold ctrl + scroll to resize image

on the green pcb, there are three black chips. I think the audio processor is the biggest one which on that pic is the one at the bottom.

I googled the letters what are on that chip and it let me to this page:
http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/36081/ROHM/BA6285FP.html

scroll down to page 2 of the pdf document and you'll see a diagram labelled "ba6285fp"

pink 17 and pin 19 are frontIN and rearIN
so i have to connect the headphone cable to those two pins

where i'm stuck is, where to solder the headphone cable to.

like i don't know which 'bump' on the pcb those two pins are connected to.

any help is appreciated :)

What the fuck?!? This is really cool. I'm going to try it... maybe.

i was just talkin to a friend who is a computer engineer and after looking at the pdf, he said that chip actually controls the cassette deck.

so I took off the casstte deck and that green pcp board and under it is the black pcb board. Thats where the actual audio processor chip is.

here's a pic:

I think the audio processor is the one in bottom right hand corner with blue paint all around it. Its made by alpine and the model number is "51T95037W02"

so now Im trying to figure out where to solder the cable. I'm looking for rightIN and leftIN.

Google didn't help me this time. All results were either to chinese or russian websites.
there are some more pics here if you scroll down: http://bbs.carcav.com/read.php?tid=259114

My friend suggested to track where the cassette deck transmits the audio signal through and solder the cable there (since i took out the cassette deck)
If you look in the pic, there is a long creamy coloured bus in the top left corner of the picture. That is where the pcb board that controlled the cassette deck goes into. So out of those 20 pins, 2 are probably rightIN and leftIN.

any ideas?

edit:
did some more digging online and found this
model#:CM728AC
tuner: US-EU
part number: 39100-S10-A310-M1
manufacturer: ALPINE
MCU: 51T95037W02 661

I tried a bunch of datasheet websites and search but couldn't find anything. :s

how about save the effort and do this...

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/scosche-scosche-universal-fm-modulator-for-ipod-mp3-players-fmmod02-fmmod02/10114376.aspx?path=b530c0f052ad9ca80f29a72dd533ae8 0en02

its a direct system with an interrupt so when you flip it on, it blocks outside radio and sends sound in via the antenna (wired, not wireless)

they work surprisingly well..

If it's a cassette (they still make those things???) then you can buy a little gizmo that looks like a tape but has a wire and a plug.

If you're still stuck on modding what you have then you need to figure out where the output from the cassette amp is. You could probably hook up a probe with a set of headphones and probe around the circuit to find it while a tape plays.

If you can pull this off good stuff! Some guys did thid in their lexus' audio system.

Difference bein thry actually hacked the cd changer. So you loose the oem cd changer and its on that input when you select it on the rAdio.

@4sc: thats cool but i would prefer to actually mod this myself...hobby project sorta thing

@michal: could you link me to those threads if possible? I did a seach for "lexus auxiliary" and nothing came up.

This is the 'main' one: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/lexus-audio-video-security-and-electronics/269156-how-to-build-and-hardwire-an-auxillary-input-to-oem-stereo.html

Ultimately it sparks these:

i asked for help in a forum about circuits, some guy told me where to solder the headphone cable:
http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/9950/httpi702photobucketcoma.jpg

Thats the cable from the cd changer going into the stereo. So it transmits audio from the cd.

I cut the left, right, and audio com wires and soldered headphone cable to them.

Audio quality is sooooo much better than fm transmitter!
