Your local automotive parts supplier and one of the newest automotive technical forums are bringing you one of many organized events in 2011. This event will be held at Shannonville Speedway, on Saturday May 28th, 2011 at 5:30pm. We have rented the SMP track (4.03km Long Track) and will be registering a maximum of 25-30 cars for this event so don’t waste any time registering. The cost for each car is 80$ with a 40$ non-refundable deposit. You must also bring a approved helmet to the track.

Time: 5:30 - 8:30 or dusk (We will be meeting at Trackwerks at 1884 Merivale Road Unit 7 at 1pm) Arrive early for briefing, info and waivers.

Cost/Registration: 40$ non-refundable deposit, 40$ Balance due at the track or 100$ at the gate. Payments and registration can be done at Trackwerks. ( because of it being a track day, deposit is cash only)

Heres on overview of the basic rules:

- Approved Helmets are mandatory for both the driver & passenger. No helmet = no track time.
- Only 1 passenger per car.
- No drifting or burnouts
- No tailgating, if you come up on a slower car then back off and wait for a passing zone.
- If a car comes up behind you, let them pass at the next safe section
- Passing is only permitted when you are signaled by the car ahead (hand wave out the window).
- Passing is only permitted on the front & back straights. The car being lapped will ease off the throttle and continue with their line and allow the other car to pass. The passing car will pull around and pass on the (right or left you choose)
- Only one car can pass at a time, each car must be waved on by the slower car (makes sure the slow car is aware of each car passing them)
- If a car goes off the track and all 4 wheels leave the tarmac they must pull into the pits on that lap and inspect for any damage, once its verified there is no damage, then they can return to the track.
- If a car goes off the track 2x they will be black flagged and return to the pits for at least 15 minutes. If a car goes off the track 3x the track day is over for that driver, no refunds.
- No hands or body parts out the window, this includes holding a camcorder/camera out the window. The only exception is to signal a car by with a wave of the hand.
- Max of 13-15 cars on the track at any one time
- 4 ways on for one cool down lap before entering pits

Lets keep it fun and keep it safe.

We have plenty of experienced drivers coming, so first timers can go with them for a couple laps to get a feel for the track as well have having an experienced driver ride along with you in your vehicle to give you guidance how how to take lines, pass etc.

it may not be night time but it will be getting dark, your going to be able to track as much as your car can handle, there will be 2 groups so the track isnt packed just to keep everything organized and safe

Reason I ask is some blue maxima se was joining me in some spirited driving down woodroffe the other day. But it was puffing out some nasty blue smoke and smelt awful....

are you asking if it was an SE because you saw the badging on it?? because the previous owner had removed all the badges and there is nothing left on the car now (i have actually gotten parking tickets where make and model of my car were recorded as unknown lol). Blue headlights may just be the OEM HID's on the 2002-2003 maxima's. To be honest, i drive my car pretty calm in the streets... #1, i lost my license and it sucks so i want to make sure it never happens again, and #2, $80-85 to fill up this thing is a pig if i hammer on it constantly

calabogie is so much nicer on the tires/brakes only problem is if your inexperienced for a lapping event or dont know your way around the track, calabogie has very little forgiveness around the corners, im sure any car guy with a good head on his shoulders would be able to navigate themselfves around the track though!.

Greg is actually taking over half of the organizing duties for the Calabogie evening sessions this year and we are limiting the number of car to 24. Hopefully there will be a good crowd of regulars...

Your S2000's isn't that slow, once you get to know the track more, you can keep up with a lot of faster vehicles because you are gaining on them on the turns. Calabogie has some great cirners, if you get the line just right it is very rewarding, if you get it wrong than the track feels slow.

You need to time your own laps, and race against yourself rather than trying to keep up with Viper Venom owners who are scared to crash their 100K-200K cars which go slow in the corners, and go WOT in the straightways.

Bogie is far more technical, rewards smoothness, and wont do this to your tires.

Its the inconsistency in surfaces that will chew up tires. If anything, run higher pressure, I dont even wanna run R Compounds there anymore.

Its a fun track though, everyone will have a great time.

lol i do but do you remember being smoother on the turns then a certain acr viper? you dont need a fast car just a good sense of self control you did awesome!

shannonville is pretty safe place too push your car. its up to prefrence though i guess.
