depending on how old the tint is, i read that a steam cleaner works best but when i did it (the tint must have been over 10 years old) i tried pretty much everything i could find online and used everything from a steam cleaner to a heat gun and all the glue still stayed. It took me forever to remove all the fucking glue using some serious chemicals. Brake cleaner worked the best but dried too quickly so you need alot of it. Paint thinner worked great but gave me a huge headache after like 15 minutes.

I believe what the pro's use is ammonia. They take black bags or vapour barrier tape them over the windows with ammonia sprayed on the tint and let it sit for a few hours. I think that softens up the glue and you can pull it off. That's all i know.

Yeah you need a mask with the propper filter for that.

Yes ammonia is the way to go. You can use a glass cleaner with ammonia and tape plastic over is for a few hours like Zenar said.

Make sure you heat up the outside of the window with a shop light or something.... Also only remove the pastic bag a little at a time while your scrape, if the ammonia dries, the adhesive will harden up again within a few mins.

The tint is pretty old, it's peeling and stuff. I'm going to look into the ammonia more and give it a try. I can't wait to get rid of this purple shit. Thanks guys for your help!

I used a razor blade and some windex (or something like that) when I took my awesome purple tint off. I did it on the hottest day of the summer (coincidence). After a couple of hours (wasn't really 100% focused on doing it), it was all off and no glue marks or anything. It's something that doesn't really need to be a specific way, just take it off and clean the windows. More heat = easier though.

Razor blade will work but can also scratch the glass.

I've done this in the past. Like Terry said, just get a black garbage bag and some windex with ammonia. I did it in the summer and just soaked the hell out of the window with the windex, taped the bag on it and let it sit in the sun for an hour. Then you just peel back the bag and the tint comes with it than just use newspaper and more windex to get rid of the residual residue.

Well I got all my tint off tonight with the help of a buddy. Was in my freezing cold garage and it took about an hour with a heat gun. Then removed the glue residue with some goof off. Thanks everyone for the tips! I'm so glad it's off.
