Well if you've read a post then wouldn't it make sense that that post is no longer new?
At any rate the change in behavior is to accommodate Tapatalk. Until they find a fix for their plugin, we have to use this "absolute" system of read/unread threads.

does that justify it to disappear off the list? no.

So you're putting the 3 people using Tapatalk before all your other regular users? Site was much easier to browse when the thread titles just weren't in bold if you had read them.
Get a proper mobile version, it loads like crap on my Blackberry.

holy fuck guys, it's BETTER this way; if there's no new posts why the fuck would it be in the new post section? relax, as soon as another new post appears in that thread it'll REAPPEAR on the new posts page.
fuckin hell cut the guy some slack for 2 mins

but in this case it is. This impacts nobody negatively, and some people positively. WTF do the posts need to be in the new posts section, if there aren't any posts new to you in there? fawkin hell.

Based on that logic, if you hit "what's new" a 2nd time it should strip out all the previous threads it showed you (whether you clicked on them or not), and you should ONLY see threads that have had posts since you last hit "what's new" (10 minutes earlier) so by your own logic, it is broken... :victory:

for some reason, when I go to my RL link, I get the old behavior "what's new", when I lick on what's new, I get the new "what's new" behavior...
I don't suppose someone who isn't happy with the new behavior would be willing to bookmark this link and try it for themselves?

If they get the same "old" behavior it could be an easy fix for those not happy with the change...

I know you're just playing devil's advocate so I'm not gonna make you look stupid.
A thread still has new content if you haven't read all the posts inside it. Ergo if you don't enter the thread, it should still show up in the new posts section.
It's not called the new thread section.

content != new if it hasn't changed since you last clicked the "what's new" button....
Ergo, deal with the new behavior, and if you don't like it, use the link I posted (ideally in a bookmark) to get he old behavior.

of course its new; you never read it! If it behaved the way you're suggesting the function would be completely useless.

I like the new behavior, because it doesn't behave like your podunk suggestion at all - it works flawlessly and has me scrolling less so I can troll harder.

New != Unread
New = New

it's new to me because I haven't read it. you can mark everything as read if you want. 3 buttons over.
