View Full Version : Home made alarm.
Decided to use and old alarm I had kicking around to protect my Seadoo. I have a mercury switch installed in the box so if someone lifts the trailer it goes off. It also goes off if they unplug it or cut it.

wouldn't they be doing you a favour by stealing it?

How do you figure? Sure insurance will cover it but it's still not doing me a favor.

money pit?
I tried to rent one one time, 800 deposit is kinda nuts, but justified by repair cost
What's going to be real funny is when I come by and plug that cord into a 120Vac outlet.
Cool set up, and nice "connector" at the alarm box too. One of my good friends is a technician for ADT, can do all kinds of neat things with those alarms.

Better off buying one and beating on it all summer, than sell it for 1,000 less in the Fall.
I did that in 2002 and the entire season cost me 1500$. Cheap thrills!

That was just thrown together to adjust the switch on the trailer. It's all proper now.
I was just kidding around anyways, I've seen way worse.
Good thing you posted it on the internet so they have a schematic of exactly what you did!
Yeah that won't help them. The alarm is in my house. The only thing outside is the wire going to the trailer.
Arggggh you should have screwed the knock out into the back of that FS box arggghhh
I would of but only had 2.
So what if I cut open that extension cord, exposing the wires inside. Then I skin both the black and white wire, exposing the copper, and touch the two together.
Then all I'd have to do is cut the cord downstream of my splice and be on the way with your precious Seadoo.
What time do you usually get to bed at?
End of line resistor mean anything to you? Your plan is flawed.

Didn't notice you went as far as putting an EOL. Also wasn't even aware that your average household alarm panel has the option for such a thing.
I bet there is no EOL.
Oh and bring a torch or grinder to cut the chain to.

Most are set up for EOL. At least the DSC ones I use to install. This one can be programmed for wither setup.
So where is it? In the switch?
Between the outlet and the switch. I know there is ways around this but the average person would not be able to figure it out.

lol tim. so youve posted video directions to youre house and now video of youre alarm setup.
now i can understand eol. but what stops me from stripping the wires of the extension cord and connecting them to your 120v outside plug and frying youre alarm. chains are easy to get around.
So come get it if you think it's that easy you might be surprised. That's what insurance is for. Hell I'd come out ahead of the deal! Said it before and I'll say it again. Where I live is no secret.

nah i dont like watersports. plus if i was going to steal it i would just bring two buddies and lift it off the trailer and put it in the back of a cargo van
