View Full Version : Fit owners... surprised by gas mileage.
My fit now has 8000kms on the clock and i`m very surprised(not complaining at all) about getting 500-550 of city and 650 of highway on 35-38 liters.
How is your comparing?
Sure is a nice change from my jeep... 400 city/500 highway for 65 liters...

very nice.
looks like you are getting about rated city mileage but doing a little better than rated on the highway.

Not a green peace celebration but cutting my gas bills by a little more then half sure leaves me more money to have fun!!! 8)

Yeah, when I put the B20 in my old Teg, I went 650 HWY kms and filled it with 38 litres. Left Ottawa and was just shy of the Quebec/New Brunswick border when I filled up.
I was impressed to say the least.

Good to hear about the Fit, they seem to be really well built too.

I'm being boring with my Fit and have logged KMs, fuel used, etc... since owning it. After almost 13 months of ownership and over 41,000kms:
My worst has been 7.3L/100kms in the winter, best 5.9L/100kms while commuting to work in the spring.
My summer average is around 6.3L/100kms, winter near 7.
I'm a happy Fit owner. I have all the gizmos I want in my Fit, lots of safety, enough room for the 3 brats in booster seats in the back seat and it's fun to drive.
I've driven over 700kms per tank multiple times. I sneek an extra 5L into the tank when it's not looking...
Pete is yours manual or automatic? I really like the manual transmission in mine.

Manual, sport model. Tranny shits GREAT, I was surprised. it's so easy to row the gears.
To be noted the 650kms on the highway are done at 115-120, not on the cruise @ 105 either.

Same here, I tend to cruise at 115-120.
Would be even better at 90-100km/h. 5th gear on the manuals isn't as long as most Civics had.

Yeah, then again this is what makes it able to pass cars on the highway without downshifting all the time

ABS
pw, pl, pm, cruise
AC
etc...
What safety/comfort features does your old Tercell have?

Im as bad as Eric lol. I log everything with gas on my echo and, well Id have to go over everything but I am getting close to or a tad over 700 city mixed with a few km's of hwy and I never drive just hwy but ill be safe and assume 800 clicks hwy at 110-115 cruise.
I notied the exhaust didt help or hurt the millage, The k&n may have helped by about 10-20 clicks per tank, owering the car seemed to help even more with less drag under the car as it seems also with other owners. Rasing tire pressure did the most netting me a extra 50km's per tank and also running on a 10 pound 15" wheel doesnt hurt either!
Both great cars

pffft Big deal. This is about gas mileage, not about who has the fattest cock or bigger wallet. I'd go with the tercel. It costs 300$ and is just as reliable. All that shit you mentioned are luxuries, and when they break (a/c for instance) people whine and bitch.
Beaterzz fo' lyfe.

It's about Fit gas mileage. Not gas mileage in general. Aight you trailer park boyz.

BS!
it does not get 4.4L/100kms or over 53MPG! but thanks for coming out.
edit: official EPA window sticker gives it a best of 9.0L/100kms highway.
next time reset the trip after every fill up, not every 2nd.

Ok, and Im comparing the gas mileage of a new economy car to my old run down economy car, and posted that I'm disappointed to see that it's not doing any better.
No need to list the advantage of the Fit over my Tercel as it's quite obvious which car people would take if given the chance, but none the less, I'm suprised the Fit doesn't do better in the MPG area.

They offer better fuel economy models of the Fit in different markets capable of over 50MPG. But Honda decided to only offer the most powerful engine in North America so Fits wouldn't get run over. The gearing we got was also selected in favour of acceleration over fuel economy.

its funny.
throughout history, men have always competed by showing off their wealth.
in this age, so called men show off by saving money.

It's more about saving money on one side to spend it somewhere else more usefull then a consumable(gas) that give you no return on investment($$ or just plain fun).
