The door molding on my Sierra keeps falling off. I tried twice to prep both surfaces and tape it back with double sided tape. First rainfall and it's peeling off again.

I got a quote today, $50 the dude will glue it on with urethane. I don't like the idea of using urethane as if I ever had to take it off for some reason, it would be near impossible to remove.

Any suggestions on where I can get some GOOD double sided tape? The stuff I'm using now sticks to the vehicle fine, but it won't stay stuck to the molding itself at all.

I guess I shouldn't have made so much fun of Grey Area and his door molding issues.

I can't remember the name of it exactly but maybe call a body shop and ask. I think I picked it up at Hosie and brown. Can't remember.

I'm going to go check out another body shop in Orleans tomorrow. At this point I'd rather pay someone than prepping both surfaces AGAIN.

I just feel like using urethane is hack.

There is a special adhesion promoter that needs to be used on the molding first.

Ah.

So does anyone else think I should let Ace Body Shop glue it on with urethane?

At this point I'm thinking I might as well.

Either that or he's been coming by every night while I'm asleep and peeling it off.

why would you ever want to take off your door molding anyway? glue it on with urethane and forget about it..

VHB 3m tape.

Extra sticky!

It might just hold a steel girder to the side of your door.

get 3m tape. use a heat gun to heat up both surfaces and apply tape to one. heat up tape and install on door.

And then you need to hold it down with tape over top of the molding while the 2-way tape bonds the trim and door panel together. Also if you're doing it outside in the cold weather it all won't work as well.

3m super weatherstrip adhesive, put it on once and be done with it.

How about some tires?

If you get tires on rims I know a guy who can install them for you so they don't fall off.
