I know there are probably a ton of threads but I lack the energy and time to go digging. I need:
1) recommended tips and tricks to pass
2) recommended shop to go to
3) pm me if you know someone who knows someone who will guarantee a pass.
Thanks a lot.

Gas Line Antifreeze or Methyl Hydrate...
Run your car near empty, dilute your gas big time with Methyl Hydrate, run the test and then fill your tank with Gas immediately after...

there is no guarrentee pass, its the machine that fails your car...
depending on the cars problem, running the car hot or cold will make a difference. also take a smell at your pipe, if it stinks, then youmay have a problem , if not try your luck getting a test,if it passes then no worries, if it doesnt, then fix your car accoringly to the area your car failed in
What's the problem with the car??

IIRC, it's a 94 civic with b16a1 installed.
Not sure what aspect of the test it's failing on. Lee, can't hurt to dump a container of the guaranteed to pass and give it a shot...or as suggested the gasline antifreeze.
Is there a cat on the car? and does it run with oem ecu? If you dont run rich and there are no big mods to the car, just warm up the cat and go try a test. From there you can see what you need to fix.

Yes I believe there is a cat on the car.
The original "tune" was very rich and I'm thinking might have clogged the cat or something after which point it was retuned with crome. Just a guess about the cat though...
Car is back to stock exhaust and likely no other mods except for a K&N.
Thumpa can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's accurate.
I think the Guaranteed to pass is bullshit. I've been told many times by e-testers that clients have tried adding it to their tanks and retesting only to find that it's as bad or worse. Just do the test and see if you pass. Maybe you need a new cat maybe it will just pass.

It will pass if a mechanic scans my car and hooks up an emission friendly automobile to "THE MACHINE" It's my honda si with b16a2 swap. Not so easy to fix my car according to the area that it fails in.. at least that was the case 3-4 yrs ago (last time i tried to pass) I put in new cat, plugs, cleaned air filter, adjusted timing, and spent 5 hours with Hackish rechipping ecu and reprogramming to make it a lean breathing machine however still failed. Thanks Nick for providing info for the folks here. Ross, I still highlight my hair and look damn sexy...sexy like a kat.

Not many will risk their big money machine, fines, and their ass for somebody's $20 etest.

I'm pretty sure that I have heard the opposite...
I've also heard NOT to run high test..
Wonder whats going on with your motor... the fact that it is a b16 should have no significant effect on your etest numbers...

Clyde auto emission centre on clyde ave.
When I worked at Turpin we'd send cars there that we couldn't get to pass. Nothing fails and it's legit. seriously lol.

Well what a sketch show that place turned out to be. I had to tell them what hotrod status was and why my car was qualified to be ran at those ratings.. they finally seemed to understand and then get my fail results back to see that they tested under normal status. They would have failed under hot rod status as well but the numbers are sooo far off from when i got an etest done 2 yrs ago and have barely driven the car since. Makes no sense. Perhaps the rattle under the car is my CAT. Gonna get under there and check it out. Se below for results and feel free to make suggestions.

A couple years ago that place was very well run, nice people working there. I went back there this year to not see any of those people who used to own it or work there but rather got taken over by some other people it seems. Some didn't understand quite understand english and when trying to explain certain things they'd just go yeah yeah but not actually know. I had a horrible experience there this year where the guy almost tore my front bumper off even with me yelling at him to stop moving the car.
Anyhow to make a long story short, if you want a really nice bunch of guys to deal with and for anyone who has a lowered car and problems with getting on rollers etc.. Oil Changers on Prince of Whales is an excellent place to go to. The roller is in ground and i'd say majority of the cars will not have a problem getting the test done there. People who work there were really nice and no communication problems whatsoever at anytime of what was happening.
Good luck with your test.

Do a decarb (pour water through a vacuum line into the intake, DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF FOR A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL ONLY) the decarb will clean all of the carbon, the O2 sensor and help light the cat. The car will pass, unless you have a damaged or empty cat / your o2 is inop. b16's should pass with flying colours.
