So I was in my friends 95 Saab at which point his heater was making a very distinct sound similar to that of a coffee pirculating. I came back to my parents and now that I'm listening for it their car is doing the same thing only a much quieter scale (wouldn't of been noticed if I wasn't looking for it).
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be that'd be making that noise?
Thanks for entertaining my curiosity
Check the coffee maker in the glovebox, SAAB's coffee makers are known to break.
Also check the overflow, thermostat ?!?
For your friends car: if it was loud enough to notice, it could be a problem. Check the coolant level. If it is low, you may be hearing air bubble passing through the heater core. Also, this means there is a leak somewhere. Was the car running hot?
A lesser possibility is that a blown head gasket may be draining the car of coolant, while simultaneously pressurizing the cooling system with cumbustion chamber gases. Check for white smoke, a loss of coolant with no apparent leak, and if need be a compression test across all cylinders.
