I'm thinking of purchasing a 2004 mazda 3 4 dr sedan. just wonder how they are for driving and on gas and how is the maintence on them, are they expensive to maintain??

I highly recommend them. Get one of those grills that every single owner in ottawa has gotten and you can go park at an angle with the rest of them at M&M on friday nights.

go for it great car love mine depends if ur gettin the 2.0 or the 2.3l i wouldnt waste my time with the 2.0 personally i have the 2.3 in mine

My dad has a Mazada 3, 2004. GLX 2.3. 76500 KM on it. The car is a piece of SH*T. The thing needs new pads and rotors every 15000 to 17000 km on the rear axle. The door locks broke, the dealer ship had to replaced both remotes , the wiring harness and the main fuse block and the computer. One of the OEM headlight bulbs and wiring harness melted together. And lastly the indicator the shows what gear you are in has fallen into the centre console. You asked what I think, you can make up your mind. They are looking at the new Civic Si to replace it with.

My Dad got one of the first Mazada 3 in Ottawa had to wait for almost 4 months till it landed in Vancouver(Sp?). He read so many good thing about it and it looks good too. Maybe we got a lemon?

I almost bought one but the dealer threw some last minute crap in my face and I walked.

From what I could tell the 2.3 is only slightly quicker than the 2.0 and will undoubtedly be worse on gas.... I'd stick with the 2.0 is plenty quick for what it is (not sure if it is the same as a focus motor but I wouldnt be surprised). Im sure mazda had their way with it if it is ford derived.

Shifts nice and the interior is really attractive, you might mistake it for a german car.

As for maintanence if people are saying wheel bearings go then I would either sell before warranty ends or run....mazdas are god awful to maintain.... bearings, axles, brake work is all $$$

by far the worst piece of crap I've ever owned. 2004 mazda 3 2.0l. we are on our 3rd motor, have replaced both headlights already, interior drivers door panel is falling apart, carpet on passenger side has lifted, trunk lock doesn't work with key,both wheel bearings are shot and just recently fan doesn't work to cool car. Well so much for a great car. Any one want to buy it ? Sell it for what I owe on it.!!!!
