View Full Version : carbon synchros???

I finally got the H22 running in my civic. Thanks Brett!

Unfortunately the tranny is in rough shape. It's not grinding when I drive normally (I always rev match) but if I try to shift impatiently it will grind a bit. I'm fairly certain it needs synchros. Honda wants way too much money for them so I looked around for an aftermarket performance application and found that gear-speed sells them for the H. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried these driven a gearbox built with them?

Michael, is Carbon the brand name or are they like a carbon-metallic wear material in composition (like a brake pad)?

Sorry I have nothing to add, just the question :P. Transmissions are like magic to me. The only thing I know of trasmissions is that a shift-kit and a hurst gun-handle shift knob will make an el-camino "haul ass".

About a million people use the gear-speed treated sycros with out issues from drag to track. They are great to deal with, a few friends have bought custom ratio gears from them in the past.
