This thread is inspired by the ongoing Spd-KilZ saga with the license plates, etc...

When you were younger what are some of the things you did to your car (or possibly your parents, if they let you touch their cars :( ) that you regret? Things that you look back and haunt you. i've got a couple;

I got my Cutlass when i was 15, I couln't drive it yet but I had a friend drove me to future shop where I bought 4 Sony Xplod onsale subs and put them in the trunk... I cut four holes in a piece of plywood and slid them in.. but it was no box, just literally a piece of plywood suspended in the trunk... The best part is I had no idea what an amp was so i took the four speaker leads fromt he stock deck and extended them and plugged the subs in.. ugh, i was such an idiot http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_204.gif

Next, when i was 17 i had a '97 grand prix and spend too much money on installing a kickass stereo, flip down monitors, PS2, etc... What a waste... I soon realized that the car was slow and moved on two months later.

ugh.

aaaaand Go!

1-Well, when i started driving I beat the living crap out of my parents car, once I started bought my own car and started paying to fix things I felt bad for what i had done to my parents car.

2-My first car 93 Teal Green Golf, had it all, stickers, L.E.D washer nozzles, full R-racing yellow interior. It did have an amazing system, but all that wasted money.

first car: 1999 Chrysler Cirrus LxI- tint
second car: 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege - tint
Third Car: 2003.5 G35 Sedan - tint already done.

I dont really regret doing any of these mods, because lets face it. having the sun in your eyes, and people watch you make boom boom in the back seat sucks (unless you're into that kinda stuff)

If you're still driving their cars I guess you can't post right?

Me: LEDs in the cabin lights (Lumina)
Strobe lights in the reverse lights (Rendezvous) (Andre if you go back to Kanata Ford look in the reverse lights of the Rendezvous, you'll see these little covers that go over the strobe; they fell off when we took them out and were too lazy to fish them out. Hah)

There was a stereo installed; but by SAR not me.

My first car was an '87 Celebrity Eurosport (with the 2.5 Iron Duke). The one thing I regret is totalling it. It wasn't technically my first car, I was just driving it around when I first got my license because my mom had just bought another car and this one was for sale. I ended up having to "buy" it after I broke it, lol. I had had my license for less than a month.

I didn't do any mods that I really regretted because I never sank that much money into any of my cars. Bought a simple aftermakret Tape deck for my '84 Cavalier and kept it as clean as I could (I only paid 200$ for the car, it was a rusty clunker, but everyone always said the interior was immaculate).

I did a couple of things to my '87 Cavalier like a Heartbeat of America windshield banner and matching mudflaps. I added off-road grills on my quad sealed beam headlight setup along with some matching fog lights. I also added a 2 1/16 tachometer on the steering column because I had an automatic with no factory tach. Then I installed a pioneer CD player with Pioneer OEM replacement speakers. Clean install with proper adapters. This was another car I kept as clean as possible, I bought it with fresh body work done to it for 1500$ and it didn't start rusting again until about 3 years later. Had the car just over 4 years, blew a headgasket at 280,000kms.. but that was right after I had bought my current car so at that point I had stop maintaining it and drove the piss out of it.

So I don't really regret anything I've done to my cars.. except for maybe one thing. Painting some parts yellow on my current car and having a yellow windshield banner. I really didn't know what I was thinking then, but it wasn't anything that wasn't reversible, so there's no more yellow on my car now, lol.

My first vehicle was a 1994 Chevy S10. 2.2L, 5-speed, reg. cab, short box. The way I drove it people thought it hade a Vortec 4.3, or V8. I put 80 000km on in 8 months then I got into an accident. Pulled a u-turn in a 40 zone, looked no one was coming, after I was in my lane a car swerved into me trying to avoid me. According to skid marks the 60 y.o. women driving was doing 100km/h, but somehow I still got blamed.
The only things I did to it was a Calvin pissing on ford sticker, and Calvin pissing on N'SYNC. 311 000km on it, and the only thing mechanicly fixed on it was a headgasket.

i got my first car when i was 17 and it was a 96 VW golf in great shape.
i never modded that car because i hated it and knew i would sell it soon. after 1 year i sold it and bought an integra 3 days later. since then i have done: all new speakers, subs, intake, exhaust, strut bar, paint job, tint next week, lowered, short shifter and a few other things. i dont really regret anything as of right now but who knows.

1990 Cutlass Supreme International

JBL 600.1 with 2 Infinity Perfect 12's..

SO loud, my rear view fell off the window about 20 times...

Best fuckin car ever, until my dad smoked a deer with it...

Don't really regret the stereo, made me the fuckin shit in high school lol.

Biggest regret was Swapping my 88 CRX with B16, and making sure everythign was perfect, new clutch, tune up, timing belt, EVERYTHING was new. Spent a fortune, only to get 3 bad transmissions from Montreal, never really got to enjoy it, then just trashed the car because it wasn't worth keeping...

Well the parents cars were both demo's from a dealership for my dad so I never touched those...

1st car was a 96 Golf, lowered it.. tinted it.. had an exhaust system from Dan's muffler shop... probably a waste of money, although it looked very clean.

2nd car 96 cavalier... did nothing
3rd car 93 300zx NA... exhaust
4th car 93 ford tempo... did nothing
5th car 90 300zx TT... did nothing

My biggest regret? Owning so many cars. I've had a total of about 26 cars since i was 16.

Worst mod? Painting the dash in my 86 323 GT. It was the cool thing to do at the time. For 2 weeks.

fixed.

Actually I had people asking if it was a 305 or 350, I was like why do you think that, its only a 4 cyl. I went through 1 set of tires a week. I was woking at a GM dealer at the time, so I just kept putting good used tires on. Most of them still had 40-50% treadlife left. Our sales manager was good at making people change tires when they didnt have to.

You're fucking right you did! 8)

And think of it this way, if you hadn't done everything you did to that car, you wouldn't hold the title for slowest J-body in Ottawa.

1st car was a 91 Mercury Topaz. Drove it like a race car and it died in extreme grenading planetary gearset hole in tranny case on the side of the highway styles.

2nd car 92 Ford Crown Victoria - drove it for 5 years, killed trees with it, towed shit with it and the driveline never complained... body fell apart.
Only mod... Brake pads every 4-6 months.

3rd car 96 Taurus - meh, I'm a student and I needed something cheap.
2 grand, 140K. has a cd player ghetto wired in because I'm too cheap to get the football dash kit.

85 mazda rx7, exhaust system installed by speedstyle.

2 weeks later, drunk driver ran a stop sign that controlled the access to a highway. Car was written off. :(

Regret driving in that area at that exact time and place!

When I was 17 I bought an 87' Rx-7... It was the biggest lemon I have ever seen. Body was in excellent condition...the engine not so much. I regret paying 5 grand to make it streetlegal and an additional 3 grand after the piece of shit fell apart. However, the 3 months I was able to drive it out of the year and a half I had it were tons of fun! After the car was completely fixed up...I needed to make a fast sale and sold it for 1500...I know I could easily have gotten WAY more but I was greedy and wanted fast cash! I definately regret that. Funny story about when I first went to see the car... I let "matt06" take er' for a rip since he knew what to look and listen for... a Lady flew off her driveway not paying attention and almost t-bone us, almost severely injuring Matt and myself and totalling the car... I regret the car not being totalled because it would have saved me a ton of money!

Then about 4 months ago I bought my 94' Integra RS... I regret nothing other than not doing anything about the ricearific addons that were on from the previous owner- then again...I'll change that crap when I either A) buy new stuff for it B) Sell it for money that I can gamble with in the stockmarket! :P :P

First car was an 87 Oldsmobile Omega. Tan colored. Man that thing was ugly. I only had my G1 at the time, and my parents were out of town (Florida I think) and they came home to see this thing parked in front of the house. The following Monday I took it to my school, and parked it in the shop yard. For the next couple months I spent my shop class time doing some fiberglass and bondo work, and installing a stereo and some speakers. Then one Monday I came to school and found that someone had broken into the shop yard on the weekend and stole all the stereo equipment and smashed the passenger window. I took it as a sign, and turned around and sold it to a scrap yard for like $100. Oh well....the work in class got me an A in shop....haha.

when i was 16 i was rebuilding my volvo for safety, and while that was coming along i drove a 1976 yellow spitfire, which got hit by a wide turning previa. then later after new paint job i crashed it into a fence, i regret doing that ever since, but after extensive work and gathering of parts under a budget its back!

will postg up pics soon.
