.. when my girlfriends dad takes a look at her car. She insists on him looking at it everytime it does something that it knows it's not supposed to do. Its an 01 Cavalier.

This is what it did today.

Pulling out of parking garage downtown. service light, ABS light, and Trac control light all came on. It's an automatic and when it shifted from 1st - 2nd gr the whole car clunked/chugged/whiplashed me every time.

What do I say to sound like I'm a grease monkey other than " that there #1 cylinder done gone and farted the ol monkey dirt while I be driving the Mrs home"

Tell him the clutch shaft is hitting the reverse springs and your SURE that the syncros are gone in the camshaft lob. You'll sound like such a teched out greaser that he'll be like putty in your pocket.

ever have the tranny fluid flushed?

flush the old fluid out, new trans filter. sounds like crap is getting in the way of the actuators.

service light will come on whenever something goes wrong. It came on because you have an ABS problem. Your Traction control light came on because it is now inop due to your abs problem. (traction control uses the abs system) That's why all 3 lights are on.

Considering that the abs problem comes on as soon as you start driving, theres a 100% chance there is no response from one of the wheel speed sensors. When your computer reads signal from 3 wheels only, it triggers a mil and you are down to conventional brakes.

So, to make it easy, there is a wheel speed sensor that's fucked (most likely) or an electrical issue.
