OK so I deliver pizza on weekends with an old beater 1994 Pontiac Sunbird 4cyl. It was my grandparents, but my grandfather passed away and my grandmother doesn't drive so my fiance and I got a good deal on it.
Anyways, this weekend I was delivering and I started hearing a loud buzzing noise underneath the right side of the steering column. Long story short I figured out it was the power locks because every time the noise happens the auto locks dont work, and when I put my finger on either the lock or unlock button the noise will stop until i take my finger off - the weird thing is that if I put my finger on the lock and unlock buttons at the same time, the noise keeps going. I am guessing it's a short in the wiring somewhere. The noise starts and stops at random....I am wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to fix this - preferrably the cheapest way possible because the car really isn't worth much any more and I don't want to be sinking money into it. If I lose the auto locks I am really not too concerned as it is not a necessity. Now, if I find the fuse and take it out, will that stop this issue? I took off the cover under the steering column when the noise was happening yesterday to try and figure it out, but I'm horrible with electronic parts and couldn't figure it out.
I don't know if this helps, but the windows are manual so I don't have to worry about losing fuses for windows because there are none.
Any help would be appreciated!
