Default New Mazda6 Previewed in Takeri Concept ahead of Tokyo Auto Show

With a planned debut for the Tokyo Auto Show, Mazda has released a selection of images of its new Takeri concept car, previewing the next-generation Mazda6 family sedan.

Using the brandís new Kodo design language, the car stays true to the Shinari concept and shares styling similarities with the upcoming CX-5 compact crossover.

Riding on an all-new SkyActiv platform and using one of Mazdaís new Skyactiv-D diesel engines the Takeri concept is also the first Mazda to feature a regenerative braking system, using energy stored under braking to power onboard electrical components and thereby reduce the load on the engine.

Mazda promises significantly improved fuel economy, while staying true to the brandís mandate to deliver cars that are enjoyable to drive.

Photos of the interior reveal a stunning cabin and a BMW i-Drive-style controller.

Look for complete details when the car debuts at the Tokyo Auto Show on November 30th.

Too bad concepts never end up looking like the production version.

Agreed. If they did, it would have huge door handles, much bigger mirrors, 16 or 17" rims tops that look barely like that, and a mostly different front end.

If the new CX-5 is any indication of where Mazda's face is moving, i'd say that this concept and the actual new Mazda6 won't be too far off from eachother

Superb! Thank you for providing an interesting topic here! A while ago, I also read an article entitled "New Takeri concept car hints at next generation Mazda6". I bet everyone is excited! Mazda plans to unveil its new Takeri concept at the Tokyo show and I heard that the automobile will feature a UNIQUE REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM that powers the car's electrical functions and therefore, saves fuel. Isn't that great? I really want to have one in the future and silver will be my color of choice.

    Really nice design.

Did you guys notice that for a few years now, cars are starting to look more and more like spaceships? Just look at this red Mazda beauty! You can almost see it flying and shooting at the Death Star
