Default HELP!! Maytoo old skool for here but overheated 82 Pontiac Acadian

Soo a buddy bought this clean 82 Acadian.Day after he got it too ottawa he was driving on the 417 and car overheated. towed the car home. Rad was pretty empty adn the engine was down a litre of oil. Car wouldnt turn over battery was dead. tested the battey it was no good. Put a new battery in now turns over great but doesnt fire. Pulled the plugs they looked frign old so tossed new plugs in there still wont fire up. Kinda off at a loss. also. pulled the lower rad hose off to flush whatever was left in the rad. whatever coolant was left was the colour of rust. any suggestions whats next?

Yep I learned how to drive on one of those things. If you were lucky you could get it to hit 130kph...

It sounds like it just wasn't well maintained. Those engines weren't exactly the best on the planet. I'd go through the basic things, does it have spark? What about fuel? Check the filters too.
