Time for Change

Good morning everyone,

Danny and I recently exchanged a few PMs discussing some of the unacceptable behaviour that takes place here every single day. While most of it can pass as joking around and "friends" insulting one another, some actions are simply put, inappropriate. Redliners is far from being your typical car forum where most discussions appear in Off Topic, Sightings etc. I'm all for it. When someone actually takes time to post an ad or when we have new members introducing themselves to the community, it seems as though some of you have a Jekyll/Hyde personna.


I am asking everyone to try and make an effort in following areas:


FOR SALE THREADS:

Please refrain from negative, unwarranted comments towards the seller's product (Car, Parts, Stereo, Misc. Items, etc.). There is always room for constructive criticism (suggesting a lower price if you can justify it or maybe requesting more pictures, additional information). Everyone has a different budget. Negative comments will be deleted and culprits will be warned. Multiple infractions will merrit a ban. This is nothing new to RL.

NEW MEMBERS:

I have never seen so many personal attacks towards new members, whether through introductory threads or joining existing conversations, as I have witnessed on Redliners. After 12 years, we should be a growing community, not one on the brink of extinction. Please be a little more inviting to people testing the waters.

CYBER-BULLYING:

Some of you have children and are trying to raise them in a world that is attempting to minimize violence. Verbal agression can be as damaging as a punch to the face. How can we preach this at home then come on here and push each other around like it's acceptable because we're "adults?" Again, I get the ribbing and some of you enjoy taking jabs at each other. It's easy enough to filter some of your comments. That being said, I will not tolerate ANY verbal abuse if it is unwarranted. Use your head and have an argument instead of degrading someone for their personal views.


I've said it before. RL has become more of an internet water-cooler than a car forum. We should be able to login and enjoy our daily distraction.

great, we have a new mod.... That's a cute list of ideas but the site is too far gone, you won't get your original user base back and anyone else that has heard of redliners knows it's a smack talk site. This isn't the first time someone has tried to overhaul the "rules".

I'm not trying to overhaul anything as much as I am trying to restore a little order to the chaos. Some people will never change and most of the old timers can attack each other until they are blue in the face. Most of it makes for hillarious entertainment. I'm simply asking that we treat newcomers with respect and keep sale threads clean.

The site is only as far gone as you will allow it to be.

How about moderating the influx of DJ equipment in ads that are made by 'so called" New members?
Does this site not have a delete button for all that crap?
I counted 8 of the same Crap ads on the first Page I visited in the Vehicles section.

I wasn't expecting things to change. You guys complain that it's dead around here but run out every new member. You trash most sale threads and you act the exact opposite of how we teach our kids to behave in a functional society. If I come across something I think is wrong, you'll know about. That's it
