    Default FR-S Convetible on Hold

    http://www.guideautoweb.com/en/artic...tible_on_hold/

Reports surfaced over the weekend citing unnamed Toyota insiders of a possible delay in bringing the Scion FR-S convertible to production.
Last March, the Toyota FT-86 Open Convept (pictured) was unveiled at the Geneva Auto show. The vehicle was also shown off at a dealer meeting, leading many to believe that it was a done deal.
Still, Toyota never actually confirmed production and now the Japanese automaker appears to have pulled the plug indefinitely.
Convertibles need to have their structural rigidity re-enforced to make up for the loss of roof panels. This means added weight and apparently Toyota doesn’t wish to go against the appeal of the FR-S as a lightweight vehicle.
Sucks. Could have been a nice looking convertible (for those who like convertibles). I'm not one, personally.

Finally, they make this story public. I'm sure the plan was to aim at the Miata's jugular with this car.
